How to use active select?

Same here. This might be a useful module, but documentation seems lacking.

I tried the active select and find it fairly confusing.

It appears to load the top level terms/categories from the selected vocab/container, then load the immediate subcategories within the second select box.
However, it won't work with categories that do not have sub-categories nor allow more depth.
This is at first glance.

Also, the grouping of categories is not well sorted.

Now, this is not the issue, but i have all my categories set to single level because i use the category module and use its active select option for distant parents.
This means it'd take a new option for that kind of setup to make these two modules work together.

I know, the activeselect module might be a bit confusing, it needs more documentation. The activeselect widget is still in development, I tried it with drupal 4-7 and it worked, but I had some problems with drupal-5. So there is definitely a bug in the drupal-5 branch.
Concerning the usage, this module is for loading of hierarchical levels dynamically, so with every bar, you go a step deeper in the taxonomy tree. For the first bar you have to choose a parent (in the admin section), then all children will be listed in the first bar. Concerning the second bar, it depends on the selected value of the first bar, again all children of the selected value from the first bar will be loaded dynamically...
So, I'll work on the activeselect widget again and I'll hope you didn't get crazy with it at the moment.

According to maintainer: "active development is only done for the 6.x branch! 5.x is not supported any more".
Open a new issue if this still exist.
