This module is awesome and I am sure a lot of formatters have been created which could be of general use. Let us share them!
I have created a docs page: http://drupal.org/node/1210118 with two child pages for D6/D7.
I would suggest the following policy:
Code should be posted in this queue before transferal into the docs. This would allow a review process, avoid that the docs get messed up and create an issue to fall back on if problems with a snippets arise.
A nice "Call to Action" on the project page could help gathering snippets.
I volunteer to transfer the formatter code to the docs if people feel uncomfortable editing docs or the maintainer has no time.

While I do appreciate the effort, I can tell you that there is something in the works for this which is a better approach than a D.o handbook page, but until that is in place this can stay.

No biggie. I just saw your comment in the other issue about a handbook section and it took me only some minutes to go ahead. Looking forward to your solution. Love the module!

Deciphered CreditAttribution: Deciphered commentedFinally got around to getting something up, far from being ready for user contributions, but http://customformatters.com 0.1.1 is up and running and ready for people to get involved. The sites source code can be found on Github (link on site) for anyone to contribute to.
Thoughts and ideas are welcome.
