Hi,

I have a site that running in solr and while the search using Display Suite search works when there are keywords, I am presented with an empty (or white) screen when the keywords are empty (so if I visit http://localhost/search/content). Same thing happens if I have facets included via the facetapi. I have been trying to figure out where the issue lies without any result so far - it does seem like if the core node search engine is used, then it works just fine. And apachesolr site search works fine on an empty search as well. I'll try and figure out the cause of the issue as I'm not sure with the new structure of the search hooks but since that was asked for in the other thread:

Version of DS: 7.x-1.2
Version of ApacheSolr: 7.x-1.0-beta8

Let me know if you need any other info.

Ok, so the issue seems to be stemming from when the conditions contain 'apachesolr_search_browse'. The $find array seems to retain that when the search is empty. I didn't know what to do in apachesolr itself but when I do a check on that variable and unset it, a page comes up (it doesn't work with the facetapi but atleast no white screen so far. Needs further investigation.

As I was looking through to figure out why the facets were not showing up, I saw that facet info didn't seem to be getting collected by Display Suite (atleast when browsing).

The new patch has the piece in there for faceted searches. I'm wondering if it might be more worthwhile to use apachesolr's conditions() function when the backend is apachesolr since that seems to be more fully fleshed out.

I'm going to play with this on monday since I have to build almost the exact same use case, more on monday! :)

Confirmed, committed and pushed, thanks! Now let's hope Apachesolr stays stable for a while between releases - granted, they call it beta releases so they're allowed of course :)
