Can the api be updated to the newest api that Google offers, because there are things that this module doesn't have such as interactive events for charts and there are a lot more chart types with the non Drupal charts api. I was wondering if this module was going to be updated soon, because I would really like to add things like interactions to my charts.

The D6 version of the module is no longer being updated. The D7 version now integrates with the new VML/SVG version of the API provided by Google.
