Subject says it all. Would be great to have Solr running on install.

This is a great idea!

Something I would like to see in adding these configs is the use of roles to help out with splitting and choosing services; where the solr "role" could depend on the base role and run in tandem with the full DLAMP stack or be provisioned on a machine independently.

In the mean time, a quick github/google search for chef solo might find a recipe to add to a cookbook to get going....
