I just had an idea regarding interaction with other modules like comment_mail. For the 5.x version of the module I will one day invoke a hook while creating the notification mail so other helper modules can add/remove stuff on the mail body (like additional manage comment links, etc.) Ideas appreciated.

Sorry for posting here, albeit with a no-so-different agenda since you were talking about hooks. I just would like to know if, in the future, we would be able to choose which nodes/posts get to go through Notify. I'm a long time user of Notify and was new in using Image module. The Image module makes each imported picture a stand-alone node. Imagine the horror that happened when I imported dozens of pictures - Notify did its job so well that all my users received an email detailing each photo as a new posted content.

I'm not really adept at PHP yet and I hardly have any experience in contributing to modules development, although I'm a software developer by profession.

Sorry again - I was drawn to the work "hook" here.

The feature requested by loloyd has been added a long time ago.

The feature suggested by RobRoy has not seen a second request in seven years and I do not see a use case for this. Time to close.
