I am still on Beta 7 because last time I have updated the theme it reseted all the work that I put in into the previous version. All the banners were gone etc. Is that issue addressed? I would like to update to Beta9.

its recomendet to work whith Subthemes.
There u can manipulate the theme with css etc.

being a newbie here - so how do I go from the current installation to subtheme?

Also how do I make sure that the images are not being overwritten (like background) after the update?

I am not using a subtheme.. trying to think how can I move my current set up to subtheme
