For the block title overview, we should remove the "filter on" part - that doesn't help anyone.
Then for the finally used block title when rendering the block, we should only show the property label as the user won't care about the index name..
Finally, it would be awesome if we find a way to activate facet blocks by default, so they appear right after enabling them in the search api.

drunken monkeyAs said, that is (as far as I know) practically impossible to do generally. We'd have to know in which themes the blocks should be active, and in which region in each of them, guessing all possible region names in all existing or future themes.
You can easily use a custom module implementing the appropriate facet CRUD hooks to add this behaviour for your use case, but if you have no concrete suggestion on how to implement this, we just can't do this in the module.
The naming suggestions sound reasonable, though. I'll leave this open for other peoples' comments a few days, and then make these changes.

drunken monkeyPS: Read a mail from fago too late, where he proposes to just activate the facet blocks in the default theme and to let users select (either for each index, or globally), in which region the facet blocks should appear by default.
This should really cover most use cases. However, since the facet blocks would probably need to be reordered in most cases, I'm not convinced that there is much time gain here.

drunken monkeySince fago in an unwary moment admitted [;)] that there really is not much time to be gained with the default-activation of blocks, that part is dropped for now.
The two labeling issues, on the other hand, should be fixed now — they do make more sense (and are considerably more concise) now.
