Currently there is no way of adding multiple images to a taxonomy term, I think it would be a really handy feature. A custom version of taxonomy image module was posted here that allows for just that but it does not look like it works with the latest versions of the taxonomy image module. http://drupal.org/node/214400#comment-3832506 . It even has views integration which is great!

I don't think your patch or module includes the necessary update to the schema to include the delta column.

So you tested that patch? Then it would be helpful if you can describe what you did, what you expected and what you got instead. Be specific :)
