Google Summer of Code - now accepting student applications

Hey college students, want to spend your summer writing Drupal code while getting paid by Google? Sign up to participate in the Summer of Code 2006 program and that's exactly what you could be doing.

As of May 1, Google is now accepting applications from students. You've only got until May 8th to get them in, so you'd better get on it.

Make sure to check out the list of proposed Drupal projects for inspiration. Your personal project ideas are also very welcome, so don't hesitate to deviate from the published list.

The Drupal community is absolutely dedicated to your success, and each student accepted to work on a Drupal project will have two personal mentors to work with. There is also a team of people standing by to answer your questions or help you with your application.

Make sure to read the tips and guidelines for applying.

Good luck, and may your summer be filled with great Drupal coding!

Drupal 4.7.0 Release Candidate 4 available

The Drupal team has released the fourth release candidate of Drupal 4.7. Several new critical issues came up since RC3, but were quickly fixed. We also took advantage of the extended development time to get some more last-minute usability improvements in.

Again we invite you to help us test this latest release candidate, so that Drupal 4.7.0 final can be out soon. Drupal 4.7 RC4 can be downloaded at http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/drupal/files/projects/drupal-4.7.0-rc4.tar.gz.

Drupal development open

The code freeze is over! We're accepting new features in the development version of Drupal while the forthcoming Drupal 4.7.0 release is being finalized and maintained parallel to that in the newly created DRUPAL-4-7 branch. That said, bear in mind that the current focus is to release Drupal 4.7.0, and not to add features to the development version.

Denver Drupal User Group Meatspace Event

Howdy,
In March I picked a date and people showed up. For April I tried posting and asking for recommendations, but that didn't seem to work. So, we're back to pick a date and see who shows up! Yeehaw.

Subject: Drupal Installation Mashup, Q&A, Chatting
Location: Paris On the Platte (gmap)
Audience:Anyone who is interested in Drupal or has used it before. Since Mike Hostetler will be doing an installation mashup that part is geared towards newer users but showing a variety of installation methods may teach something to everyone. Beyond that, the Q&A and chats are what you make of them. Last time we had several people who were interested in

Time: 7:00 PM for the regular meeting, I'll be there starting at 5:00 or so to hold down a table, chat, hack, etc.
If this time/place doesn't work for you, please vote in the poll and leave a comment so we can figure out where to hold the next meeting. Also, recommendations for venues will be highly appreciated. Paris On The Platte seemed to work pretty well last time.
