Drupal content translation report: what are your options?

Fortunately following our call, many of you took the time to write up your ideas and frustrations about trying to set up multilingual sites with Drupal and other content management systems. The matter of fact is that many of the Drupal developers already went and done some content translation solution in the past (sometimes coupled with menu, categories and other translation possibilities). While we are brainstorming about what should be supported, we should also think about the connection between the frontend and the underlying technology.

Jump.TV using Drupal

JumpTV is -according to itself- "...the world's leading destination for online television" It offers nearly 200 channels from more than 65 countries, and it recently switched to Drupal! In a short interview we asked Tom Herman why they choose Drupal as their platform of choice and what caveats they found when migrating their old site to Drupal.

It comes with many new features, including a web-based install system, improved administration tools, and a shiny new theme! There are also tons of under-the-hood improvements, such as the inclusion of the jQuery JavaScript library, node access system improvements (ACL), and many improvements to the Form API.

Getting this beta nice and stable is essential to releasing Drupal 5.0, and to do so we need your help! Read on to find out how....

Garland, the new default core theme

We both know that the most important impression you need to make is your first one. So after more than two years, Drupal has a new default theme. The new theme is called Garland and was created by Stefan Nagtegaal and Steven Wittens. Garland will ship with Drupal 5.0.

Better yet, we added a color picker that allows administrators to change the theme's color scheme without having to touch a single line of HTML/CSS. So not only brings this new default core theme raw beauty, it is actually the easiest to customize Drupal theme in existence.

A lot of hard work went into the creation and selection of a new core theme. Thanks to everyone who submitted candidates that weren't chosen in the end. We'll add (or replace) more themes in future versions of Drupal. Great job guys!
