Release notes

This release modernizes the code base and removes the deprecations that block Drupal 12. There are no functional changes.

Profile now requires Drupal 10.3 or later. Sites on Drupal 10.0–10.2 should stay on 8.x-1.15.

Changes

  • #3631896: Modernize code: OOP hooks, constructor property promotion and attributes
    • Hooks moved to classes in src/Hook, with #[LegacyHook] shims for Drupal 10.
    • profile.tokens.inc is removed; token hooks live in ProfileTokensHooks.
    • template_preprocess_profile() is replaced by an initial preprocess callback on Drupal 11.3+.
    • Plugins use attributes instead of annotations (field widget, entity reference selection, views relationship and argument defaults).
    • New kernel test coverage for the hooks.

API changes

  • profile_form_field_config_edit_form_submit() and the _profile_migration_*() helpers are removed. They are now methods on Drupal\profile\Hook\ProfileHooks.
