Problem/Motivation

Currently elements like the provided home page look good out of the box, but the range of customizability for the elements (and especially the overall layout) are pretty limited.

Proposed resolution

Make sure relevant SDCs can be placed into Canvas pages, especially the home header. Since the Site Stats only ever appear on the homepage, that section (and the related config) could be replaced by a set of components instead.

For now, allow the hardcoded, theme-provided elements to be turned of with a toggle in the theme settings, so that sites can use a Canvas-created layout instead.

Eventually the older approach, including the hardcoded template inclusions and the content architecture for site stats, can be deprecated and removed in some future version, but it would be good to gather feedback before taking that step.
