Problem/Motivation

After the update from 4.0.3 to 4.2.0 my drupal shows me a red warning message "Login by username has been disabled. Use your email address instead." after each (successfull) login.
Configuration: I have checked all four checkboxes.

I'm seeing the same issue on multiple sites running core 10.5.1.

Maybe it is the influence of this commit.

i have same issue, I'm using Drupal 10.5.1 version.
with Configuration: checked all four checkboxes.

Thanks for reporting this. fixed in 4.2.x and created a new release 4.2.1
