Currently its a DIY approach, but AI module now covers both token & changing provider to whoever. Change this to depend on ai module

Its a bit more complicated than that, all you did there was add a dependency to the info yml. This is the actual work needed to get this in https://git.drupalcode.org/project/ai_auto_reference/-/merge_requests/5/... . Not sure if this is trying to game the system a bit or its a genuine attempt but just not understanding what's behind the module. Would suggest you read https://www.drupal.org/drupalorg/contribution-credit in case to make sure you are considering meaningful contributions. Apologies if I am wrong here!
