If you use a custom installation profile with "OptimizeDB" as an dependency you get the following error: "The specified database connection is not defined: default".

Specify which page you see this error? Errors are the module name "OptimizeDB"?

In the configuration file settings.php what settings to access the database?

Thanks for issue! Yesterday I found this bug and fixed. Now if you add OptimizeDB module to installation profile, drupal will be installed correctly without errors.

Bug fixed in new module version 7.x-1.6.
