When a post is in the queue, the poster does not get enough feedback as to why people are voting the way they are. Although moderators can use comments to explain, this is seldom done and may become irrelevent or confusing when the post is no longer in the queue.
Of course there are many ways to handle this. Here are two options.

killes@www.drop.org commentedGood idea.
Additionally the node content and the reasons given (in comments or otherwise) should be mailed to the submitter.
He can then rework it and maybe get through with it.
Marking this for cvs, as it is new.
Bèr Kessels commentedshould be solved by actions.module (http://drupal.org/project/actions)
