The amazon_search module is great, but the results are a little generic. I propose using theme('amazon_item') to display the results.
Also, like the asin module, the amazon api search should use "All" not "Blended" because it gives better results that way.

Now that you're back, I've also given you commit privileges and would love to have you be increasingly active here.
The things I ask of committers:
* Subscribe to all issues (so you know right away about problems)
* Work transparently in the issue queue; make sure there's an issue for everything you do and that people can follow it. Even if you can't get anybody to review, still do it all in public.
* Put your git hash for commits in the issue when fixing it.
