Configure the input form (Widget options)

Use widget options to control how editors enter names. These settings are in
Manage form display for the content type, user, or other bundle
that has your Name field.

Set base storage rules first in the field settings for your Name field.

1. Go to your bundle's Manage form display page.
2. Find your Name field.
3. Set the widget to Name components.
4. Click the widget settings gear icon.

Key widget settings

• Override shared field settings: use custom form settings
  for this form mode.
• Wrapper type: choose
  Fieldset, Details (collapsible), or
  Container (no visible wrapper).
• Component labels: rename parts like Given name and Family
  name to match your team language.
• Label display: choose where labels appear (for example,
  above fields or as placeholders).
• Component size: adjust text box widths per component.
• Show component required marker and
  Flag required input: make required parts clear for editors.

When to use this page

If editors are confused or entering names in the wrong way, start with widget
settings first. Use formatter settings for how names look to visitors.
