Configure restricted member roles

Last updated on

If a user has the "configure restricted member roles" permission, then a new tab will appear in his group's "Member's" page: "Configure restricted member roles".

You use the "Configure restricted member roles" tab to assign group role(s) to users within each group. Only users who have the "configure restricted member roles" permission will see this tab. The difference between this tab and the "Configure member roles" tab:

"Configure member roles" page lists all assignable group roles.
"Configure restricted member roles" page lists only roles that the user has permission to assign as per the permissions table configuration in OGUR settings: http://drupal.org/node/163567.

The group "Members" page is located here:

/og/users/** group id **

The group "Configure restricted member roles" page is located here:

/og/users/** group id **/restricted_roles

Example:

  1. Created user test01.
  2. Made user test01 a member of OG group "Test Group".
  3. Assigned user test01 the "Group Contributor" role in "Test Group".
  4. Used Permissions Table to give "ogur perm 01" permission to assign "Group Member" role. The role must be spelled correctly and the line ended with a line feed (carriage return).
  5. Went to admin->user management->roles->Group Contributor and gave this role the following permissions:

    "ogur perm 01" permission
    "configure restricted member roles" permission

  6. Now, when user test01 logs in and goes to "Test Group", he sees the "Configure restricted member roles" tab on the "Members" page. He clicks on this, and sees all the group members with their "Group Member" role status. This is the only role he can assign or revoke.
