How do I install Drush for D8? I thought it would just work in D7 as it does in D8? I've got no problem using it locally in D7, but when moving to the D8 directory I get:

$ drush dl devel
Drush 5.8 does not support Drupal . Use Drush 4 instead. [error]
PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function conf_path() in /Users/mgifford/pear/share/pear/drush/includes/bootstrap.inc on line 784
Drush command terminated abnormally due to an unrecoverable error. [error]

That message is a bug. You need Drush 6 (release is named 8.x-6.x). You can do a download or a git clone or use PEAR.

Just to confirm.

1) Will the message be fixed?
2) Great to see that there's no problem updating the D7 sites still.
3) It worked, but I'm now getting this error:

$ drush dl devel
mkdir(): Permission denied MTimeProtectedFastFileStorage.php:150                                                                                                              [warning]
chmod(): Permission denied MTimeProtectedFastFileStorage.php:152                                                                                                              [warning]
file_put_contents(/DRUAL8/sites/default/files/php/service_container/.htaccess): failed to open stream: Permission denied [warning]
MTimeProtectedFastFileStorage.php:154

2nd time this week that the service container has given me grief

4) It's really quite obvious, but as a todo would be good to add pear install drush/drush-6.0.0 to the project page https://drupal.org/project/drush

Thanks again. Drush has become such a critical part of how we work!

That message might already be fixed. Someone needs to check on tip of 7.x-5.x branch.

Those directories which MTimeProtected directories give me massive grief as well. It needs its own issue.
