Can not find a way out from this;
I am using D6 Advanced forum 2.0 alpha2, nodecomments 2.0-beta1, views enabled. Forum access modul controls roles access to forum containers and topics. Vocabulary "Forums" is assigned to Forum topic content type and Comments content type. Forum is combination of public and private forums (forums for admins and moderators). Conversion from drupal comments to nodecomments went fine. I have a problem with the following:
Anonymous users and users without proper permission can access the any commentary directly by typing the path into the address bar, so nodecomments from private forums are not "private".
If Content access modul is enabled and access to comments content type is set that nobody have access to comments content type, commentary from private forums stands private and not visible to users roles without proper permission. !!!But from here the second problem appears. Some of forum topics lost all comments, and some not, no matter forum is public or private.
Am I doing something wrong or..?!

miljats commented...this is a stupid question!? Sorry for disturbing, but nodecomments from private forums are accesible to users without proper permission through search or tracker from user profile. !!!

michelleAF does not have any access control in it and I don't use any access control modules so I can't help you.

miljats commentedUnfortunately, maybe it was very inconsiderate of me and now I realize that it was the wrong choice to set nodecomments as a default type of comments in Advanced forum, with all benefits of cck fields like any other content type could have, especially if there are a private forums, like I have.
I think that would be very useful to put some notice in Readme file and warn users of this issue if using private forums.
Anyway, thank you very much for time spent solving this problem.

michelleAF works fine with nodecomments. Whether it works with access control is between nodecomments and the access control module. If there's a conflict, it should be brought up there.

salvisThe current Forum Access 6.x-1.x-dev now has support for nodecomments.
See #718242: Nodecomment and Advanced Forum users: please test new Nodecomment support.
miljats commentedI have tested and the result is: authenticated user without admin permissions can not post comments with dev version.

salvisPlease check the Forum Administration page for your forum (admin/content/forum/edit/forum/TID), open the Permissions Information fieldset, and check whether you really have set everything as prescribed.

miljats commentedAfter the first installation Forum access dev module, user permissions are not edited except access permissions are renewed. As I mentioned earlier, the result was that users could not publish the comments, but they could open a new topic.
After that, I upgraded ACL to 6.x-1.2, user permissions are not edited again. After several days of testing that went very well, I can say that it is now all right.
Comments are not available through the search results or Views listing if the user does not have adequate permission.
Thank you very much for your time and effort ;)

salvisGreat, thanks for letting us know your results!
(Leaving this here in the AF queue since this seems to be the place where most people go for help with this issue.)

michelleGlad things are working. Since I don't use any sort of forum access, I'm at a loss as far as helping anyone with it.

salvisHi Michelle
Have you seen #374463: Alter comment links.? This should let us untangle the mess we have with the comment links, if we can convince Gábor to bring this to a satisfactory ending.

michelle@salvis: Yeah, I have an issue for doing something better with the link changing than I do now and have a link to that issue in it. Just need to get some time to sit down with AF and crank through some of these issues.

salvis@Michelle:
... then you probably have an interest in receiving $comment in addition to $node... ;-)
