These policies apply to all advertising that may run on the website and all * subsites, and may be amended periodically by the Drupal Association. The Drupal Association will implement, interpret and enforce this Policy in its sole discretion.

Advertising Product Guidelines:

  • Advertising products should be helpful to users and/or aligned with the Drupal Associaton’s mission and vision: Drupal powers the best of the Web. The Drupal Association unites a global open source community to build and promote Drupal.
  • When possible, products should only monetize users who are logged out and not contributing to the Project.
  • Sponsorship or advertising will only be included on project pages, in project issue queue listings, or individual issues when it is appropriate and relevant to the contributor community, such as sponsorship of DrupalCI.
  • When possible, advertising products should be inclusive, with low cost options for small businesses and tiered pricing.
  • Advertising should not interfere with navigation or disrupt visitors’ use of the site.
  • The difference between content and advertising messages should be clear to the average user. How the distinction is made may vary based on the product type, placement and where the user is directed after the click (for example to a Partner’s website or a different page on Methods of distinction can include:
    • The ad has a visible outline, with significant distance between the ad and any other clickable content on the site
    • The ad includes language that conveys partner participation
    • The ad is labeled with terms such as “Advertising”, “Advertisement”, “Partner Offer”, “Supporting Partner” or “Sponsorship” to distinguish it from content

Advertiser Guidelines:

Only organizations that are relevant to the Drupal ecosystem can participate in advertising programs. Some examples include:

  • Drupal Web Development Shops
  • Drupal Hosting Companies
  • Drupal Training Providers
  • Independent Software Vendors in the Developer, Ops or Marketing Technology segments.
  • System Integrators

Some advertising programs may be limited to organizations participating in Drupal Supporter Programs. For example:

  • Lead capture forms and calls-to-action in hosted case studies will be limited to Premium Supporting Partners and higher, and must be implemented using Drupal Association processes and systems.

Creative Guidelines:

  • Ads cannot include deceptive or misleading content, claims, offers, or business practices.
  • Offers made in ads or on landing pages must be clear to users and cannot misrepresent the true nature of the offer. Any price claims made in an ad must be clearly and accurately substantiated on the landing page.
  • Ads and their landing page must be directly relevant to each other.
  • Ads must not imply a endorsement of any kind
  • Ads cannot be animated, with the exception of the Hosting Listing placements
  • Ads cannot contain audio or video content
  • Ads that click to a partner website must clearly be differentiated from the page through either a defined border or a contrasting background color.
  • Creative guidelines will vary based on program and placement. However, the Drupal Association may, in its complete discretion, refuse to publish creative if it does not meet these general guidelines, or specifications for individual programs.

Drupal Trademark and Logo Policy:

The Drupal trademark — i.e. the word "Drupal", whether or not in capitals — is owned and controlled by Dries Buytaert, who cooperates with the Drupal Association and local non-profit associations to foster the use of the Drupal software.

Although you are encouraged to use the Drupal trademark (and the official Drupal logo, which is itself a use of the Drupal trademark) for your own purposes, you must first obtain a license. You can either obtain this license automatically, or through a license grant procedure, as further explained in this policy.

This policy therefore first explains whether you receive an automatic license, or whether you need to obtain a license through the license grant procedure. In addition, this policy explains which "rules of use" apply when you use the Drupal trademark (whether you obtained the license automatically, or through the license grant procedure).
