Utdanning.no is a Norwegian website that provides information about education and vocation. Utdanning.no has updated information on the education and labour market in Norway, and is operated by the Norwegian government.

The website hosts:

• Information about all officially recognized educational programs (from upper secondary school to master degree level).
• Articles about the 600 most common occupations, with emphasis on which education is required, and labour market information on employment opportunities
• Visualizations for exploring education and career opportunities
• Complete register of companies and organizations which currently offer, or are suitable for offering apprenticeships.
• Interviews of professionals on each field
• Web tools that help the users discover their dream education’s formal admission requirements
• Statistics about the job market
• Listings of lifelong educational programs
• Links to reliable sources of information

Utdanning.no was created on Drupal 7 and has now been upgraded to Drupal 10/11. The complexity of the data sources (hundreds of millions of entries) raises the need for good coordination and fine-tuning of several other technologies and frameworks in addition to Drupal, that will elevate the user experience and help with navigation:

• SvelteKit/NextJS for several frontend tools
• Solr as a search engine
• FastAPI for publicly accessible APIs
• Python scripts for collecting and processing the data

All this is running in Kubernetes with CI/CD pipelines to handle DevSecOps.

A dedicated team of developers is developing and maintaining all the parts of the software stack.

The data are being collected from several sources:

• The Common Student System (FS)
• Brønnøysund Register Centre (brrreg.no)
• Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (nav.no)
• Statistics Norway (SSB)
• The Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training
