Bio:

In my previous role at Birkbeck, University of London, I conducted an extensive research into business requirements and workflow processes required to implement an automated prospectus publication system for off-line print and online access on the Birkbeck website interlinked with online registration and payment. The project was a resounding success, shaving off 8 weeks from publication deadline & saving the college 50k/annum as well as freeing up the web team of 6 weeks of prospectus web updates.

The previous large-scale project I was heavily involved in as an IA & Project Manager was the Science Museum’s Ingenious website, which involved digitalization of collections belonging to the family of museums and managing the web design and development. All these projects involved management of diverse group of stake holders, web information architecture, design of CMS work workflows and functionalities, meta data schema design, as well as working with external design and programming agencies to bring the projects to a successful outcome.

To date, most of the projects I have managed or architected have been large-scale national projects involving many facets of the web production processes (print, design, IA, UX, branding, marketing, e-com, mobile marketing). My core skills are in planning, project management (Agile and Prince2) & deployment of complex content driven websites, web analytics, e-commerce and marketing, user testing, web 2.0, social media, community building, digitalization of photographic and document archives, DTP and integration & print automation methods with XML and DTP applications. I should also stress that I am not a software developer per se, but I do have a good understanding of its requirements and can develop detailed pseudo code logic and flow diagrams for functionality specifications and wire-frames needed by the coders and designers.

As an individual I am positive, communicative, supportive and positive in my approach to given tasks. I do like taking on new challenges and the responsibility to go with it. Overall, I feel that the with my longstanding background in both academic and commercial settings that can usefully be brought to bear in relation to the needs of most types of organisations. I am accustomed to working with heterogeneous project teams of varying sizes and can communicate effectively with audiences with very different backgrounds and concerns. At the personal level, I get on well with web or design production teams, senior management and stakeholders. Most of all, I like cultivating a working environment which gives everyone involved a sense of achievement in doing something worthwhile.
