UNOLS Upgrades to Drupal 10 for a Faster, More Accessible Experience

The University of Edinburgh, having migrated from Drupal 7 to a modern Drupal platform, needed to carry out a technical audit to evaluate the platform’s effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. The audit assessed key aspects of the platform, such as security, GDPR compliance, accessibility, performance, and editorial experience. Through in-person workshops and analysis, actionable recommendations were delivered to improve both the platform and its strategic direction.

In an increasingly competitive higher education landscape, North Dakota State University recognized the need to evolve — not incrementally, but boldly. Their brand vision, “One NDSU, One Voice,” called for a unified platform that could amplify the brand, support hundreds of editors, and provide a seamless experience for prospective students, families, and partners. But that transformation would mean untangling a complex web of nearly 300 independent sites, each with its own design, structure, and content.

The Cultuurconnect platform consists of over 300 different websites. Each library has its own employees who manage the website. Library staff can manage content for their own websites, including creating landing pages.
