Does it suppose to work with multiple value fields in a view?

When used for a field in a view that has multiple items I get a bad result. First, the values are each in a new line, and second, no read more link shows.

E.g., when using the default formatter, I have the display as: Value1, value2, value3

When using the expander formatter I get this display:
Value1
,
value2
,
value3

Any help? Thanks!
