have someone a little documentation or howto the group signup function works?

I have setup an event contenttype which present a signup to event link which links to my signup contenttype. In the signup contenttype I have setup a integer select field for the group size (1-5, default: -none-) and a cck fieldset which should be displayed if a group signup is selected. In the signup contenttype I have enabled group signups and selected the two fields from the signup contenttype. But the cck fieldset for group signups are allways visible to the user (in group signup settings description it says this is only displayed, when group size bigger 1 is selected). Perhaps I have a missunderstood the function or settings for the group signups :(
