This fixes a long-standing UI bug and merges Automatic Updates Extensions into the main Automatic Updates module. If you have Automatic Updates Extensions installed, you can uninstall it after updating.
This release drops compatibility with all versions of core older than 11.2, due to a backwards compatibility breaking change in core's Package Manager module.
Early preview of Automatic Updates 4.x, which is identical to Automatic Updates 3.1.x except that it uses core's version of Package Manager. This means you will need to alter your settings.php to use it; see the related documentation for more information.
Development snapshot of Automatic Updates 4.x, which requires Drupal 11.1 or later. This module uses core's version of Package Manager, so you will need to alter your settings.php for it to work. See the related documentation for more information.
So...here we are again! The biggest advancement in this release is that automatic updates are now done under the hood by a new command-line utility. No, not Drush -- there is no Drush dependency here! In addition to everything Automatic Updates already did, you can update your site at the command line super easily:
First, we no longer declare compatibility with Drupal 9.7, which is a fantasy version of Drupal that we made up for internal testing purposes. Nice to remove that little misleading bit of information.
Second, we've introduced an audit log feature to Package Manager. It will now log all the changes that were requested, as well as which changes were actually made, for inspection by privileged users.
Welcome to the latest episode release of Automatic Updates!
This one has a few API changes and deprecations, so read closely if you're integrating with Package Manager's API. (That means you, Project Browser. 😉)
This is a bugfix/maintenance release of Automatic Updates. Since the last release, we've focused on preparations to integrate Package Manager with Project Browser, and getting Automatic Updates Extensions ready for prime time. (We haven't achieved either goal yet, but excellent progress is being made.)
Most of the action was just cleaning up our tests, plus a couple of small but nice usability improvements. But we feel good enough about the state of Automatic Updates that it's time to let it fly. Onward and upward!
It's been a long road, getting from there to here. A long time, yes...but the time is finally here. Behold, the first release candidate of Automatic Updates 2.0!
Special thanks go to everyone who helped us beta test at DrupalCon Portland and DrupalCamp New Jersey! Your contributions were invaluable and we've already fixed several things you found. Thanks for keeping us employed making this module as awesome as possible. You know who you are!
The most important changes in this release (or at least we think so):
This release does a lot of refactoring and fixes several bugs found during beta testing at DrupalCon Portland. Thanks again to all the people who tested it, and submitted excellent bug reports!
We've continued refinining Package Manager's API, especially its boundaries and edge case handling, and strive to make it behave as clearly and consistently as possible. We're excited to see what gets built on top of it! (Looking at you, Project Browser...)
This is our official pre-release beta in time for DrupalCon Portland!
This release is about fixing bugs, polishing some rough edges, and really preparing for folks to put this module through its paces at DrupalCon. We actively want people to beta test this release, and have prepared some instructions that you can follow to do that. We really appreciate it, and it will help us deliver the best and most stable automatic update system we can.
Step right up for the second beta of Automatic Updates! This release requires Composer 2.3.5 or later to perform updates.
This release is mostly about clean-up, refactoring, and internal testing improvements. Drush compatibility is slightly improved, although there are still outstanding issues on that front. Some groundwork is also laid for updating contributed modules and themes, rather than just Drupal core, but that functionality is not yet ready for testing, except by the foolhardiestbravest.
This is the first Alpha release of the 8.x-2.x branch.
Updating Drupal Core patch releases of Composer based sites is supported. No module or theme updates are supported. Updating Drupal Core to a new minor or new major version is not supported.
Because this is an Alpha release it should not be used on production sites.
The 8.x-2.x branch is being developed for inclusion in Drupal core therefore only features that will be supported in the initial core version will be added to 8.x-2.x.
