How could we change tumbnail size on node edit page. Currently 100x75 size is too small to clearly recognize pictures for our needs, how can size of default tumbs be higher or imagecache preset used for showing them?

quicksketchYou can set the hidden variable 'imagefield_thumb_size' in your settings.php like this:
You may need to adjust your theme's CSS to make it so that the thumbnail has enough room on the node form.

marko b commentedThanx quick.

marko b commentedWorks great, just wondering why is this put so "deep" or hidden as you say, it could be useful to have it in basic settings of imagefield.
quicksketchMostly because you have to manually add your own CSS to make this work correctly. Rather than making this a setting, this issue is a more likely course of action: #402014: Use imagecache for thumbnails.

marko b commentedI agree imagecache would be good option to use as its almost standard for drupal, maybe one day in core also i would hope :)
quicksketchDrupal 7 does include both ImageField and ImageCache, and it includes the ability to select a thumbnail size for each individual image upload widget. We gained a lot of flexibility without inconveniencing our users now that ImageAPI, ImageField, and ImageCache are all in one module again. This new image.module is included with Drupal 7 core, hence why a lot of development has wound-down on the Drupal 6 version of these modules.

marko b commentedGreat, didnt know its in core in 7.

quicksketchMarking this fixed, for a long-term solution let's merge with #402014: Use imagecache for thumbnails.

tpoppe commentedFor folks wondering how they can expand the size of the thumbnail upon file upload preview, see function image_field_create_admin_thumb() in imagefield_file.inc within the imagefield module directory. You will want to adjust the window of this element within the imagefield.css file to make it fit your needs.

dcarr commentedThis also worked great for me. really easy and super simple. Thanks!
I'm using Drupal for a t-shirt project management software and we upload JPEGs of our photoshop CADs to jobs that need to be separated and sampled. Making the size bigger allows me to input the information on the CAD to cck fields such as color of t-shirt, artists initials, and the status of the artwork approval.
