I've successfully installed the JW Player module on my system and have it running fine under the admin user. However, when I log out only the embed code is displayed on the page.

The permissions for anonymous user are set to show uploaded content, and I did not see any specific settings for the JW module, is there a setting I am missing?

thanks

Title: Missing a permissions setting? » correction- jw player settings for views

I've now realized that this is a problem with views, are there directions somewhere for configuring the player to work in views?

@eessex,

The jwplayer tag only works in node bodies. However, if you would like to make use of the module in views you can take advantage of the theme function which is just a bit of php code.

Here's a minimal example:

<?php
  $flash_vars = array(
    'file' => 'your/video.mp4',
    'image' => 'your/preview.jpg'
  );
  print theme("jwplayermodule_render_player", "your_custom_player", $flash_vars);
?>

If you have any other questions just let me know.

Thanks.

Hi @eessex,

Thanks for that info. I created a two column panel with a view having a video content. I rewrote the text within the views to access the video file and the thumbnail to create the content per your post above... however the panel still outputs text instead of the embedding - do I need to add any override in the template.php for this to work?

Your above posting is much appreciated and thanks in advance for your answer :-)

Thanks.

I guess I fixed my problem. Listing the methodology for future reference by others:

(1) I first installed SWFTools and directions provided in this video for attaching a video node.

(2) I then moved all the files within the folder mediaplayer-viral (coming with the download from your site) into the sites/all/modules/swftools/shared/flash_media_player/ folder (the flash_media_player folder had to be created). Also, I created two symbolic links: mediaplayer.swf and player-viral.swf both linking to player.swf (not sure whether this is needed though). This made jwplayer available in the "File Handling" part of swftools

(3) Following this, I had an error: "...warning: Parameter 2 to wijering4..." related to a PHP5.3 incompatibility of flash player. I fixed this issue using the method described here and applying a patch to the swftools.module

Once the content type is created, it is a breeze to access it from views ... with fields of "Content: Video" and formatted to "swf tools: no download link".

Thank you very much for the jwplayermodule - it is a wonderful piece of software :-)

Best regards,
Arun.
