When using "menu block" to define the slideshow menu, the "menu selector" field must be empty.

The simplest solution is probably just some help text under the menu selector field like, "Make sure this is empty if you are using a Menu Block to select the menu."

Here is a patch. It justs adds the help text I mentioned above.
