So brianV in #drupal pointed out it's not as easy as it used to be to find showcases on the front page (which I don't personally think is a bad thing).

I disagreed and pointed out the 'sites made with Drupal' block. Thinking the title of that block would link me to a view, I clicked on it, and noticed it leads to http://drupal.org/cases, this is a very old page, that is only very intermittently maintained, as you can see by:

Resource Directories
If you want a central directory for a given topic, Drupal suits your needs well. Users can register and suggest new resources while editors can screen their submissions. Example: Entomology Index

This isn't the prettiest Drupal site in the world, it's also running on 4.6.6 - http://www.ent.iastate.edu/list/CHANGELOG.txt

Now I don't think we can link to http://drupal.org/forum/25 either, but maybe a view that does nodes in that forum that have been promoted to the front page? Really /cases should just be retired, we're beyond manually maintaining lists of Drupal sites in HTML I think.

+1 for this. The site isn't a good reflection of what Drupal can do these days. As a side note, prominently displaying a very outdated, insecure version of Drupal in our showcase may draw more attention to the site - for security purposes, it may be a service to one of our users to keep that one off the radar lest we draw more attention of the malicious sort to it.

I agree. It would be great if there was a page with sites which made it to the front page (this would be practically showcase, only sites good enough make it to front page). These sites can be in a grid. Only image with short desc and link to forum.

Note while it'd be possible just to remove the site from that page, it has a long history of having sites on it with ridiculously outdated versions of core:

Seems like more action is happening on #940844: 'Sites Made With Drupal' page: suggestions to improve page clarity - should this be marked duplicate and conversation continue over there?
