Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how to display the Host-toolbox and Guest-list blocks next to the event page?
These blocks should be displayed immediately after the new event has been created, and even BEFORE the Invitation has been created, otherwise the end-users (hosts) won't know that they can invite people and manage this event. (the "Invite" tab is ignored in most cases)

ulf1 commentedRight now an existing invitation is required to show the toolbox and guest list block.

drupalina commentedhmm -- then it would be useful if admins had an option 'create Invitation automatically after event node creation'. I think the workflow of having to go an extra step to "create" an invitation is pretty confusing to end-users, especially given that usually what they will write in the Invitation text is not very different from what has already been written in event description.
Another way to bypass the invitation-creation step would be exposing some of the RSVP options already inside the event node creation form? (folks at Facebook must have based their decision to do so on end-usage statistics numbering in hundreds of millions) That way we would skip the Invitation creation/setup step and the Invitation would be created together with the event node. These could be some questions exposed in the event node creation :
[v] Attendees can invite others
[v] Anyone can attend - open event
Max number of places [.....]
In effect, if the host-toolbox and guest-list blocks are immediately visible after the event node has been created what we get is a sense in which the event page is also the event-management page! Very important for seamless user experience! Hosts already will know that the can not only post events, but also MANAGE the event! Everything is directly on page (depending on permissions), rather than obscured under the invitation tab.

drupalina commentedI've just realised that the event organisers do not have the control over the variables mentioned in this post, and therefore I've created a separate feature request http://drupal.org/node/936066

damienmckennaThis is related to #952318: Optionally add invitees during node & invitation creation.
