It seems that if CCK is not installed SimpleTest tests OpenLayers CCK which results in the following error:

Fatal error: Class 'ContentCrudTestCase' not found

Which is to be expected because CCK is not installed so the OpenLayers CCK test should check to see if the ContentCrudTestCase class exists first. I've attached a patch.

Great, there's a slightly more SimpleTest-sanctioned way to do module dependencies, but with this structure (extending), it'd be a big workaround and it's much better to just deal with this here. OL CCK only gets in the way, anyway.

Shouldn't this just be doing this?:

  parent::setUp('openlayers', 'openlayers_cck', 'ctools', 'content');

No: The CCK test extends from the SimpleTest provided by the CCK module. It's not possible to do a parent::setUp to establish this dependency after you've already relied on it to create the object / reference to parent. It may be possible to 'extend' an object later in the game, but it would be a big workaround.
