I have a new module to contribute, Views Slideshow Xtra. It is a Views Slideshow Add-on module, enabling Views Slideshow users to easily overlay HTML elements and an overlay lightbox for each slide. I have contacted the maintainer of Views Slideshow, and he indicated the proper approach was for me to submit the module as a separate project.

Hello, and thanks for applying for a CVS account. I am adding the review tags, and some volunteers will review the code, pointing out what it needs to be changed.

As per requirements, the motivation message should be expanded to contain more features of the proposed project. For themes, it should include also a screenshot of the theme, and (when possible) a link to a working demo site using the proposed theme; for modules, it should include also a comparison with the existing solutions.

Did you open a feature request for the existing project to add the not existing features?

Its been several weeks now since the Views Slideshow maintainer approved this as a separate module. Can someone please add it to the Drupal Site as /project/views_slideshow_xtra?

As reported in Apply for contributions CVS access:

You must provide a motivation message, which should be a few paragraphs instead of only a few sentences. It should include details about your contribution, its features, how it compares to already existing solutions, links to screenshots or a demo, etc.

That is the reason this CVS application is still marked as needs work. After that information will be provided, somebody will review the code, and point out what needs to be fixed.

Sorry I did not understand that was the reason for the delay.

Here is the motivation message:

Views Slideshow Xtra is an enhancement module for Views Slideshow, providing the ability to overlay HTML elements (text, links, icons etc.) onto a specified slide in your slideshow. The elements are created by entering text and other formatting information in specially named fields in the nodes that are used for the Views Slideshow. This module also provides the ability to create a custom lightbox for each slide in your slideshow. A link that invokes the custom lightbox is placed on the slide, with text and position specified in a specially named field in the Views Slidshow node.

There is an example implementation of this module at http://drupalanswer.com/vsx. This
page has both SingleFrame and ThumbnailHover examples, and both examples are on one page,
demonstrating that multiple slideshows may be on a single page.

Currently icons are not supported, but should be coming soon! My eventual goal is to provide sophisticated overlay capability for Views Slideshow, so that any HTML element can be used with your slideshow. At some point in the future, these features may be merged with the Views Slideshow module, but for now they are being maintained in this separate module.

For some unknown reason, the path "http://drupal.org/project/views_slideshow_xtra" is not always working. For example, when you go to Views Slideshow (http://drupal.org/project/views_slideshow) and click the "Views Slideshow Xtra" link, a "Page Not Found" error is displayed.
