The dropdown selection menus are FAR wider than the content that they contain. I have supplied a screnshot.

Temporary solution: use Arial Narrow type in css for this dropdown menu.

p.s.: May be last items in the list (not visible in screenshot) are wide?

Nope, the last items are of similar or shorter length. I'll check out the font solution. Thanks.

How would I go about making this change? I can't find a category for this in the .css file.

This seems to only be an issue in Categories that are using Active Select/Distant Parents.

Look inside HTML code in the page, find ID for this SELECT box, and write it in CSS.

I gather from the above posts (and their dates) that this was a minor theming issue with 4.7.x - now an obsolete version. This issue is silent for 2.5 years, so closing.
