Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
It looks like the alpha version has now gotten pretty far behind the dev version. Are there any major blockers to getting out a new release? The only critical D6 issue I see is a documentation issue. At least one module (jquery_ui) is holding back on integrating with libraries because of it's current alpha status (don't ask me why, though).

sunIt's rather http://drupal.org/project/jquery that "depends" on Libraries API.
But anyway, we just recently made progress on #719896: Add a hook_libraries_info(), but there's a lot more to discuss and resolve to actually make use of it. I'd really like to see a first implementation of jQuery module soon + would welcome any takers. :)
Also, nothing really happened in the D6 branch... http://drupalcode.org/viewvc/drupal/contributions/modules/libraries/CHAN..., so I don't think we need a new release.
As of now, Libraries API is solely developed against D7. We might be able to backport most parts of the module later on, but that has no priority currently.
