This guide will take you through setting up your entire forum from the core modules through installing Advanced Forum itself through adding useful contributed modules.
This will go over configuring the various modules that go into a standard forum.
Before installing Advanced Forum, set up your forum with core forum and ensure everything is working correctly.
These are the settings I recommend for use with Advanced Forum. All of these settings are part of core Drupal, and not the Advanced Forum
