I don't know if I am asking this for the correct module (there are about 20 COMMENT modules), but this question is for the Comment module that allows the user to leave comments on specific content. The documentation implies that users should be able to get email notification that a comment has occurred on a specific content. I can't see how to do that.

This isn't the right module or place for your question, I'm afraid, however have a look at this list of modules (in particular Subscriptions and Notifications) and see if they suit your needs.

What you're asking about is not available about of the box with Drupal, but can be added using other modules
