There is some legacy code in SWF Tools that allows you to put the player files in various locations (including the files directory!), so SWF Tools has to make repeated calls to a function to determine where to get common libraries and players from.

I can't see a good reason to keep this approach and propose to just have everything in a common location of

'sites/all/libraries'

SWF Tools then knows where things are, and the file paths can be cached as part of the methods array when the module is initialised.

If anyone has a really good reason why SWF Tools should be able to look in other places please post on this thread.

This change will take effect in the DRUPAL-6--3 branch.

Note - this change will not affect the ability to support remote media paths - that is a separate function.

Doh - brain not in gear. I opened this thread but I should have just added it to #535592: Better place to store players and libraries

So I'll close this one to avoid tracking in two places.
