The contact form is showing up under every content type as User-1, though i only selected one content type to show the contact form.

And whenever I made a new content-page, that page would have a contact form added by default. I would have to go to admin/settings/contact_form_on_node and save the page without making any changes to set it straight again.

Same here, I can't reproduce this behaviour. If I uncheck "page" in admin/settings/contact_form_in_node, then pages won't show the form anymore.
