This is not a bug in JUpload, but I am posting it here in the hopes that it will save some time and headscratching for other users.

I was uploading batches of 20 or so images, some up to 1.5mb in size, and every so often the response was a whitescreen -- the edited node became uneditable, you'd just get the whitescreen, and no PHP error in the logs either. The lack of any feedback makes it hard to figure out what is going wrong.

I tracked the problem down to one "deadly jpeg" and found that trying a normal upload (without using JUpload) would trigger some error feedback; after some research I found this ongoing FileField issue: http://drupal.org/node/297035

The solution that worked for me of the many suggested was to increase PHP's memory_limit to 256M from 128M.

Hope this helps TNPB (The Next Poor Bastard)

anyway, enable node revisions so you can revert if you get a WSOD on a node, because i don't know a way to fix it other than deleting.
also, see this link for the jupload paramaters that fix this issue sort of: resize before upload. http://drupal.org/node/681072

increasing memory did not fix this for me.
and that error you get without the applet is an error that some people get with a file of ANY size, depending on browser and particulars of the client. http://drupal.org/node/434394
