Could you confirm that AvatarCrop works when the file system is set to private?
It doesn't work for me.
I checked the users table. The cropped image's path is saved as "sites/default/files/avatars/2773715076_6dddc5462e_o.jpg" while the real image name is "01448_8bitgaming_1920x1200.jpg"
I think this could be a very useful module on my site, but I can't use it like this. Would you release a patch?
