sorry, but I'm not able to get InsertNode to insert the full core forum into a node. I've tried [node:forum], bit the answer is: Can't find forum to inlcude!

What made I wrong?

Looks like you forgot to implement that feature... 8-)

There is no way to include an entire forum. You can include a post though using the post # as in [node:#].

You know... there are many things that could be included. Polls, Taxonomy VTN (although I have a module for that), views, blocks, etc. etc. etc.

And if you write a patch, I'd be glad to add it in here.

On the other hand, you may want to look in Views and Insert Views, you probably can make it work that way.

At this time I will mark this by design since InsertNode is not written to insert an entire forum.

To do that, you probably want to use Views as mentioned in my previous post.
