drush doesn't work with xampp out of the box, either. Similar to the issue with MAMP.

So I had to add these lines to the 'drush' script after the mamp exception:

 if [ -f /opt/lampp/bin/php ]; then
  /opt/lampp/bin/php $SCRIPT_PATH "$@"
 else

then a matching 'fi' near the end

I'm not following where did you put this in the script, after which line? could you cut and paste it here?

Committed the following, which should work for XAMPP on both OS X and Linux:

elif [ -f /opt/lampp/bin/php ]; then # XAMPP on GNU/Linux
  /opt/lampp/bin/php $SCRIPT_PATH "$@"
elif [ -f /Applications/xampp/xamppfiles/bin/php ]; then # XAMPP on OS X
  /Applications/xampp/xamppfiles/bin/php $SCRIPT_PATH "$@"
else

Thanks!
