It would be good if there were an admin option to set a text area with a blurb that would appear before the list of containers and forums. Is there already an easy way to alter a function or template to allow that functionality?

What i do is create a new region above the content code in the page.tpl.php file. Then add a new block and park it in the region and display it only for the node of that forum page.
