I want this module to be able to (optionally) export the list of authors who have worked on the to-be-exported materials. The two ideas I have so far would be to add an extra file AUTHORS.txt, or to embed the list in HTML comments on the exported pages.

Other things that could possibly go into HTML comments in the exported pages would be licensing information.

Interested in other peoples' thoughts on this.
