It seems there is an excessive amount of back and forth between these three pages and if toggling Status to 0 in System Table from the database to troubleshoot the module admin page for "server has gone away" then Modules and Updates can not be compared to make a determination and see if its module version that are the issue. Tough to write out but in the end if there was two side by side versions ( "full" and "light" version ) it might be more effective especially for those very new to Drupal with no skills as a coder who would loose interest.

PasqualleI do not really understand this request, but if you want to see the status of disabled modules then you can use Update status advanced settings
if this is not the issue, then please provide a better explanation of the problem..
