feed refesh breaks images and taxonomy terms

I'm having a frustrating problem I can't seem to solve regardless of how I configure my feed and processors. I have a news feed that that creates a news item node. On the node, I have a CCK field for uploading image (company logo) and some CCK free tagging taxonomy fields. After adding the image and tagging the press release everything is perfect. But when the next con job processes and new items are added it wipes out my images and tags from the previous items. What is left is just the original feed content again. I'm not sure if this is a FeedAPI or CCK issue, i thought perhaps somebody may have experienced this here and knows what I should do. Many thanks. K
